The port city of Sète a few kilometers from Campsite Valras
From Campsite Valras to Sète, allow 30 minutes to reach the Thau Archipelago and the beaches of Sète, and a further 20 minutes to reach the city center by car. You can also take a bike ride along the Voie Verte (Green Way) to take in the beautiful views. The port of Sète dates back just over 3 centuries, and its strategic position between Spain and Italy has made it a key commercial presence on the Mediterranean.
Later, a number of migrants settled here permanently. This settlement led to an urban expansion of the town, making it a true tourist attraction in addition to its fishing and seaport. The town’s main activity remains the maritime industry, but it is gradually diversifying into services.
Here, you’ll find walking trails on the Etang de Thau, museums celebrating those who have contributed to Sète’s development, and boat tours reminiscent of Venice. Accommodations such as Mas des Lavandes, a Campsite near Sète, welcome visitors wishing to discover the port city perpetuating the fête de Saint-Louis. The Fête de Saint-Louis is an unmissable Languedoc tradition featuring jousting tournaments.
